Spider-Girl manages to fill a niche by presenting a very down to Earth sort of superheroine. This Spider-Girl has no powers, only an inherited costume and a handy grappling hook. The scale of the series is very small. Where other heroes battle powerful villains and save the city on a regular basis, Anya is content to merely beat up a few would-be robbers and call it a day. That’s where the appeal of the series rests.
